Has anyone been on a long ride?

Added any new goodies?

Purchased a new ride?
Decided the bike could use a good detail?

So what are you doing to pass the time?

Withing the past year I have gone on my first and second overnight ride Exclamation

(a big step for me) and learned more about care and feeding of my bike. Who knew oil was so important????? Embarassed

Poor thing has put up w/ some bad treatment but doesn't seem to be holding a grudge. Laughing

I've enjoyed getting to know more of my sisters and have been enriched by the experience. Some of the most generous women in the world belong to SIS.

Well this summer so far we rode Natchez Trace from Florence, Al. to Natchez, Ms. and spent the night in Louisiana. The next day we rode up through Louisiana into Ak. across Ms. back onto the Trace then home. It was my first 500 mile day...
A couple of weeks later we rode to South Carolina to Table Rock State Park. We took hwy 64 through North Carolina and boy was it twisty! Rick took the 'scenic' route, I now call it the 'scenrick' route. Smile

Then last Monday we rode to North Carolina and slayed the Dragon!! at Deals Gap. That was twisty but not any worse than hwy 64 and only for 11 miles , 64 went on forever, we est. at least 40 miles of twisty curves.
Anyway we earned our Dragon stickers. Smile

Next will be a trip to Fl. in Sept. Other than that we haven't done anything this summer... Not to bad considering I learned to ride the end of March. I don't know why I waited so long.

Within the last year, I bought my bike, took my first long ride, layed it down, got back on, and will be taking another long ride to a BMW rally in Colorado at the end of September.

hey ladies! this year i have actually gotten out on my C50 Blvd. rode to arkansas in May, dropped it and the floor board hit my foot, did some damage but not broken. couple of 200 mile round trips and night ride!!
couple of week ends ago, my boyfriend (just got at Victory Hammer) and i rode to stroud .. no rain all day, but on the way back a cloud just hung over us and kept pouring!!! my first rain !! lord! i was terrified. i am a big wus!!!
after the fall i did find a guy here in tulsa that would build my boots up for me .. so now my feet actually reach the ground! some difference in stability when i stop ..
after having two teen granddaughters here for most of the summer, i am ready to get out there again...feel the wind.. hope to see you all at the next meeting..

Hi Ladies,
The Chapter Director (Helen) and I just returned from NJ. We rode onver 2000 miles in 5 1/2 days. Went through Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, West Virginia, Maryland, Penn. and NJ. What a grand trip it was even though we had to ride the Interstates due to Helen having to return to work.

We found the truckers to be wonderful and considerate.

Had a flat tire occur when I was doing about 70 miles an hour and was able to move to the side of I-81 without too much difficulty. The safety briefings we get surely do help when you need it.

I loved the trip and am looking forward the the next l-o-n-g one.

Went on that trip to a rally in Colorado - 1500 miles and 5 days and we made it home in once piece! Only problems to be had were on the hubby's bike. Twisted Evil

Well, it's old news to some of you, but in mid-May three of us ladies did the Route 66 ride from Tulsa to Barstow, CA -- 10 days, 3600 miles. We really enjoyed ourselves and took all kinds of side trips -- the loop above Santa Fe, NM, Grand Canyon, Sedona, AZ, Laughlin, NV. We met four guys from South Africa who were celebrating one's 50th birthday by flying to Chicago, renting Harleys and riding Route 66. They were a hoot and we met up with them several times on the trip. We had dinner at the Big Texan (72 oz steak for free if you can eat it), stood on the corner in Winslow, AZ, and visited the Road Kill Cafe in Seligman. We took a side trip to Laughlin so we could add a state to our trip. We drank a coke and ate some crackers in one of the casinos. We took pictures at the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook, AZ, shopped for Native American jewelry in Gallup, NM (I think that's where we were!) and rode Hwy 95 from Barstow to Blythe -- a wonderful two-lane that is like riding a roller coaster! We got lost a few times and encountered numerous dead-ends on the portions that are actually Route 66. We had a little rain, a lot of wind, and I almost ran out of gas on one leg, but it all turned out well. The only bad thing on the whole trip was me losing my leather jacket -- I had it bungeed to the top of my luggage and forgot to refasten the bungee after ratting around for my pike pass....saved a quarter on tolls, though!
