My husband, my son and I were on our way home from a ride Sunday when we passed Salt Creek Park near Mannford. We were in the right lane and a truck pulling a boat came out of the park hauling butt. Evidently, they didn't tie their inner tube down in the boat because it came flying out and hit the windshield of my husband's bike. It was about 9:00 pm when this happened. Once he got the tube off the windshield next came about 40 feet of rope which hit him in the head and got tangled up on the tour pack on back. He ended up with some rope burn and a busted mouth and using the words of the EMT "got his bell rang", but, he didn't go down and kept my son and I safe behind him.

Please ladies, watch those trucks and boats and any thing else that can carry stuff in the back. I was mortified watching that scene in front of me knowing that there was nothing I could do from where I was and so was my son.

Believe me, the Lord was watching out for all three of us.

I am glad that you all are ok... and that is some really good riding that your hubby was able to keep it up with all that stuff bombarding him!! That is just crazy!

Did the people with the boat even pull over? did they see what they caused?

UGH....another reminder why I don't care to ride after dark. In the daylight I would have been watching for something just like that to happen...in the darkness it would be like out of nowhere!

Thanks to you all for your well wishes. The truck didn't pull over, I don't know if they even knew they lost it. But, my son and my husband know exactly what the truck and the boat look like. They gave the description to the police in case the people came back looking for their inner tube. They also lost an umbrella, life vests and a bunch of trash.

Thank God you are all OK. Your husband is a strong man to hold the bike and keep you out of danger.

Blessings on you all.

I'm so thankful it wasn't worse! They are awful about doing that; I've seen it happen many times through Mannford. Rolling Eyes

Don't know how I missed this post! I HATE riding behind vehicles that carry stuff. Especially boats, cuz who knows what's NOT tied down in there!

I can't believe your husband kept the bike upright, especially with all that rope wrapped up on him. What a very scary adventure. I'm glad you're all safe, and yes...you absolutely had an angel watching out for you.
