In studies of 'survivability' of various garment materials to a 50 MPH ride on asphalt, for example, denim lasted no more than FOUR FEET before wearing through. Kevlar, on the other hand, lasted EIGHTEEN FEET. But standard motorcycle quality (about three times heavier than fashion jacket material) lasted EIGHTY-SIX FEET. That's more than 20 times as effective as your jeans in protecting your hide.
The tests were reported in an issue of Cycle magazine. _________________ Chrome Cowgirl

I wish I could remember where I saw it cuz I would post it but it was pic of a guy that had skidded down some asphalt. Not a scratch on him where the leather covered but his butt had quite a bit of road rash Ouch!! _________________ “We either make ourselves happy or miserable. I can attest to that, about leathers. Thank goodness I had my chapps on as well as my nice jacket when I bit the dust. The chapps and the jacket are pretty scraped up, but I refuse to buy new cuz I want to remember that stupid mistake forever. Plus, it adds character.
Don't forget eye-wear. Had I not had good goggles on -- OUCH. Road rash and really bad bloody scraped nuckles, out of work for two weeks because I hadn't found a pair of gloves that fit me yet. Lesson learned...the hard way yet again. |

| My summer gloves are driving me crazy! I refuse to ride without them, but I want to approach Harley (or somebody) about an idea for a modification. |

Because I was not wearing my gloves with the gauntlet the other day a bee flew up my jacket sleeve ( i have one not un-like crapshooter's)... I was about 3 blocks from home and I knew something was in my sleeve but it didn't feel big....but it did cross my mind that it might be a bee. So I calculated and opted to continue home trying not to move my clutching arm much. Got her all the way into the garage and just as I started to move about getting the stand down in started to "bite" me ever so cautiously....I got it un-zipped and off my shoulds just in time!. Probably won't ride with out the gauntlet glove any more. _________________ ~~we ride under the same sun and rest under the same moon~~

I am a new rider, joined a few wks ago, and am in desperate need of info, advice, thoughts, ideas on riding apparell.
I own a helpmet, gloves and good raingear. I've not been to a group anything to see what you all prefer to wear or get an idea of what I like. I don't want to waste money on items that I'll regret so, dear Sisters, please send me any/all advice. Don't forget to include names and locations of your favorite stores!!! Feed free to send to my email if you like...heytootz@sbcglobal.net
Thanks so very much!!!!

| I've seen 2 references to cooling vests. Tell me more!!! I went for a short ride yesterday around 4:00p.m. and was fine unless I had to stop at a light. WOW!! Heat and exhaust fumes, what a combo. |
