Security code

What is the "security code" for? We type in our name and password, which is secure, so what is the purpose of the additional security code? Just curious -- I'm on several forums and this is the only place with a security code. Thanks.

It prevents bots from logging on, hacking our site and uploading accounts. They can’t read images that are created by the security code.

There is an issue with bots and other types of internet malice on every website. People combat them in various ways. The code is just one way we do it. Wink

Thanks for the responses -- I admit to being computer challenged, and "bots" is a new word to me, but am assuming is stands for "evil robots." Laughing

We want this site as secure as possible. We are always concerned because
we are ladies and we we do not want unknown EVIL . It is our job as an organization to protect our members from anyone that may want to cause problems for our members. We hope this is not a hardship for anyone but
feel we need all the added security we can get. If additional security becomes available we will have it. We want our members safe from what ever maybe out there.
